When I opened the hood, my coolant tank was completely dry. I swear I regularly checked them like once every 2 or 3 weeks. So I called a few people and they said to wait until the temperature goes down a bit before attempting to drive again. So my wife and I sat there for like an hour or so with our hazards light watching people heading to Cyberjaya/Putrajaya/Serdang/KLIA/Kajang drove by. Truly a classic moment. To be honest, I'm just glad none of those pesky tow trucks came by to offer us 'help'. When the car sufficiently cooled down, I poured 2 liters of water into the tank and cautiously drove the car to a Proton workshop in Equine Park. In the end, we had the radiator fan motor changed for RM300+ including labor. Even then the mechanic managed to screw up the car's wiring causing the hazard light to turn on and off occasionally. File this one under shit always happens if you buy a Proton and after it turns 5 years old.

Have I told you the time when my car broke down by the highway? No? Well that's because it just happened this morning. We had just finished dropping of the kids at their school and nursery and took the exit near Sierra 16 when I saw smoke coming out of the front bonnet. A quick glance at the temperature meter showed it was over the roof. So I quickly stopped by the roadside heading to Cyberjaya to see what's wrong.

Shit happens part 2. Just my luck. Like movies, my rotten luck also have sequels. Last month a motorcyclist crashed into my car. This afternoon when I returned to office from work, somebody told me my rear windscreen is broken. Just like that.

I'd like to believe that it broke by itself due to the hot weather and immense pressure from the inside. It is unlikely that somebody sabotaged my car due to the pattern of the crack. When I got there, the entire screen is already cracked and very brittle. If somebody threw a stone or something the impact pattern would have been quite different. That's my deduction anyway. Another theory would be this is what you get for buying our awesome local cars!
The bad news is, we didn't insure both the front or rear windscreen. The kicker is, my pay is not due until next week.
[Update]
Looks like my windscreens are covered by insurance after all! Going to replace them tomorrow. Hope we don't have to pay first.

Usually I would pick up the kids and wait for my wife to arrive from work at the Sungai Besi LRT station. But for the past 2 days, since the KTM commuter is not so crowded, we decided to meet there instead. Today while waiting as usual by the road side a car stopped next to me to drop off some passenger. I guess the passenger didn't look back while opening the door because suddenly a motorcyclist rammed into it and fell onto my car causing a sizable dent on my door.

Although it was the kid's fault who opened the door without looking, both the motorcyclist and I quickly started to blame the lady driver. We demanded that she pay up for the damages. The lady gave us a million excuse at first why it wasn't her fault but after some time she finally agreed to pay us some money. Although the money cannot cover all the damages done, at least it's something. My policeman father-in-law said in cases like this, there's a good chance I might walk away with nothing except to claim for insurance. Better settle there on the spot and get a least something.
Who would have thought just waiting on the roadside can get accident still. Well shit happens.

My water broke yesterday. Nah I'm not going into labour anytime soon but my water meter broke and now we're left without water. I don't know what happened really. First it was leaking and then after a while it just burst open, the pipe connecting to the meter and somehow causing the meter to be unusable. And according to SYABAS, even if some UFO landed there and accidentally broke the meter, we're still have to pay for the replacement. That's 73 RM out the window.

So we had no choice but to crash at my Mom's place in Serdang since yesterday. The water people said they will be fixing the new meter tomorrow. Screw you. Yet another reason why we can't wait to move in into our new home. We're now stuck at finalising the S&P agreement because the previous owner have yet to furnish our lawyers with all the required documents. February cannot come soon enough.

If I could summarize today in one word it would be BAD DAY. It all started with the rain earlier this evening. I thought it's never going be really heavy so I didn't bother to move my car from my usual parking spot in front of the office which will turn into a makeshift monsoon drain during heavy downpour. But pour it did the rain today so just before the rain water get to sip into my car, I managed to park it to higher ground. But in the process, I got totally drenched wet.
And then there's a problem with the Internet connection at my office. I tried the usual reset the modem/router and rebooted the proxy server but nothing worked. In the end I had to call TM and they said there's something wrong with the Streamyx port. We had to wait until tomorrow before they send somebody over. When I finally hung up from TM, it was already 6:30 and I was officially late to pick up the kids and Linda.
There was already a huge traffic jam in front of my office because water overflowed onto the road but I never expected the road to be congested also all the way along the SKVE. I tried to cut through UPM but it's even worse there. How was I supposed to know it's graduation day in UPM today? Altogether, I was stuck in traffic for over an hour today. An hour, traffic jam, Serdang, unbelievable.
Oh and it's not over yet. When I reached home, almost a quarter of our living room is flooded with rain water. We knew there's a little leak on our ceiling but since the rain was so heavy today, it poured inside.
Just know all the lights went out and we sat in the dark for like 15 minutes.
Thankfully that's about it.

On the way back home today, we stopped at the Genting Sempah McDonald's for lunch. There was quite a crowd in the restaurant when I got in, long queue and only 2 counters open. I wanted to change my mind and leave but since Adam was really hungry (or pretended to be) so I soldiered on.

About 30 minutes later it was finally my time to order. I remembered specifically ordering Chicken McDeluxe McValue Lunch from Nor Hayati here but she gave me a large McValue Meal instead which costs a lot more. By the time I realized her mistake it was too late since everybody had tucked in into their lunch. My Spicy Chicken McDeluxe didn't taste so good today because of all this.
Back home after unloading all our stuff, I went to the barber to have my hair cut. not much, just a little trim on the sides cause they're looking rather unkempt. Maybe it's just not my day. The barber had different ideas on how to cut my hair and he cut it really short all over. I wanted to stop him but he cuts way too fast and by the time he saw the look of horror on my face, it was already to late. The damage was done. There goes 4 months of hair-growing down the drain. My hair is short and I look absolutely hideous. My life as we know it is ruined. Hu hu.
