Last November the kind people at Nuffnang gave me 4 free TGV movie passes for my birthday. Last month I tried to watch Ghost Protocol at TGV The Mines with my wife. When I tried to redeem my voucher the staff there said that those passes are not applicable for new blockbuster movies like Mission Impossible. He told me to come back in like 2 weeks time when the movie is not so popular anymore. That despite the fact that it was stated on their website that we can actually watch any movie including blockbuster ones although we had to top up an extra 5 bucks each. Apparently the staff there didn't get the memo. Anyway since we came all the way there we decided to buy the damn movie ticket ourselves. So much for free movie passes.

Earlier this afternoon I tried to redeem the remaining 2 movie passes at TGV Sunway Pyramid. As expected the staff at the counter claimed that those passes are not applicable to watch Sherlock Holmes as well. We get to watch other movies though, although the lame and not popular ones like Hell's Gate, Jack & Jill and My Mother Bought Me A Tricycle. Not to disappoint my kid who was ready to cry, I decided to watch Jack & Jill anyway. No surprise the movie was pretty awful but my kid had fun and laughed with everybody else at the stupid jokes.

I understand that many free things today comes with a dozen terms & condition, this one no different. That said TGV Cinemas should just print in big bold letters on their free movie passes that they are applicable only for lame boring movies that nobody wants to watch. Just spare me the bullshit. I can still afford going to the movies if I want to. The latest flick is just two clicks/download away.

Into the Wild is a movie based on a true story about one Chris McCandless who after graduating with honors from a university, ceased all communication with his family, gave away all his savings and began traveling across America to Alaska. With virtually no money in his pocket, Chris made his journey mainly by hitchhiking, on a freight train, by kayak and just walking. When he needed to eat or buy supplies, Chris would do odd jobs or work part time for a while just to get by. Two years after he started his journey, Chris made it to Alaska and began his journey into the harsh Alaskan wilderness. Ill-equipped of supplies and his seemingly bad luck with nature, Chris McCandless died of starvation after spending more than a hundred days in the wild.

Very few films had managed to leave a deep, touching impression on my life and Into the Wild is one of them. Whether Chris is a selfish person and a complete idiot for cutting communication with everybody and journeying into the wild with very little provision or he is an adventurer who lived his dreams is still open for debate. For one thing this movie made me realize that life is not all about fame and fortune and material things. It's about living your dream through a journey of discovery. About how life is short and you'll never know when your last day will be and of course like Chris few final writing said - happiness is only real when shared. Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen all my life.

Earlier today, Mia had her final check up at the Seri Kembangan community clinic. Thank God for that. After dropping the kids at their nursery we went to Mutiara Damansara to catch a movie. Inception has been receiving glowing reviews from film critics the world over therefore I simply must see this film.

I don't want to bore you with the details but this is without a doubt, the best movie I've seen this year. Hell lot better than Avatar, Iron Man 2 etc-etc. I was glued to the seat the entire 2 hours of screening. Yeah it is that good. Go see it!

Afterwards, we visited Tesco nearby to do some groceries. But before that, I stumbled into Fahrin Ahmad the actor at Cineleisure - with his brand new girlfriend! She's definitely not an artist or celebrity because I've never seen her anywhere before. And after Linda Onn & Sharifah Nor Azean, this one looked refreshingly ordinary. A change of taste there buddy?

Anyway I didn't stop by to take pictures or anything because I really needed to go to the restroom at that time. Wait, since when did I stop to talk or take pictures with celebs? That's right, neverrrr! They're just ordinary human beings just like you and me. Besides, I'd like to respect their privacy.

Today I brought Adam for his first visit to the movies. I booked everything online at the TGV website 2 days in advance. It's cheaper and more convenient that way. 1 adult plus 1 children early bird ticket for only RM14.00 at TGV The Mines. Other cinemas like 1Utama and MidValley sold those Iron Man 2 ticket for 14 ringgit a piece.

I remembered my first visit to the movies was 21 years ago. My Dad brought me and my siblings to Komtar in his home town in Penang. He brought us to eat at Pizza Hut for the first time ever and I still remembered how good they were and how my brother Faiz spilled drink onto them in the end. Then we went to watch a Malay flick, Driving School. It was horrible. I don't remember who the actors were but the point is, it sucks big time. Still the experience was unforgettable until this very day.

Adam was very excited of course prior to today's visit. He woke up bright and early this morning and for the past few days, he even behaved himself and actually listened to our orders. I can say Iron Man 2 is a good movie. Adam obviously was awed by all the special effects. He said the 'TV' is way bigger than ours at home.

After that we had some donuts and had lunch at Old Town White Coffee. Don't be mislead by his lack of enthusiasm showed in the picture. He is really excited inside.

If I could describe X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie in one word, it would be AWESOME! Hugh Jackman's performance as Wolverine is exceptional, I love the fast-paced storyline - there's never a dull moment in this movie and the special effects were out of this world.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the story of Logan a.k.a Wolverine from his childhood and his journey troughout life until before he joins the X-Men team. This movie will tell you how Wolverine got his super-cool claws and invincible body (he can't die by the way), his love life and a sneak preview of some early members of the X-Men like Gambit and Cyclops. This is simply a must-watch movie and if you only want to watch one movie this year, go watch this one.

If you haven't watched the movie Angels & Demons yet, I'd really recommend that you read the book first. As always with most novel/book turned Hollywood movie, this one ommits and cut a lot of details and plot to cramp into it's 2 hours storyline. The book is okay but the movie kinda sucks.

A word of advice though, if you're not really into ancient history I'd give this movie a miss. Angels & Demons the movie is a real snorefest. Heck I didn't even finished watching this one (at home of course).

First things first, this is not the sequel to Monsters Inc, it's a whole new movie that got nothing to do with the former. Monster vs Aliens tells of a story about Susan (voiced by Reese Whitherspoon) who was hit by a meteorite on her wedding day and transformed into this huge giant so the government lock her up in a secret facilities for monsters. Hmm sounds like a typical episode in Smallville minus the cheesy love triangles. In the facility Susan made friends with other monsters, which surprisingly there only 4 of them namely B.O.B, Dr. Cockroach, The Missing Link and Insectosaurus.

While the older inmates were resigned with the fact that they will never get out, Susan felt incredibly isolated and wishes to return to her old life. To cut the story short, one day the evil alien Gallaxhar came to earth and tries to invade it so the government sent these monsters to fight him and they won and everybody lived happily ever after.

Like Monsters Inc, I actually liked Monsters vs Aliens. The story line is simple and straight forward, there's a few funny punch lines here and there and the characters were simply adorable. I foresee a profitable merchandising franchise with this movie. In fact they've already got the Monsters vs Aliens action figures with every Happy Meal at McDonald's. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie and I'd definitely recommend this movie to everyone. Adam however didn't find this movie interesting enough to watch and prefer to see Tom Tom Bak instead. Dude, I'm so not taking you to the movies anytime soon.
