My 13 years old Perodua Alza has been leaking oil under the hood for a while now. When I finally brought the car to my regular workshop and they quoted me 1,200 ringgit to fix the leaking gearbox. I thought that's a bit pricey so I looked for a second opinion. This other workshop quoted me RM600 instead to fix the leak and I thought, hey that's not bad.

After sending it the first time, I thought my leaky problem was solved for good. But it continued to leak, so I sent it back to the workshop. They said another part of the gearbox is leaking and it would cost me another 400 ringgit to fix them. I thought, what the hell. Perhaps I have a really beat up car. Then I thought, for sure all my leaky problems will be fixed this time. Two weeks later, guess what? It is still leaking, although it was not as bad as the first two times.

That's how I sent the car back to the same workshop last Saturday evening. And since it's already late and they don't open on Sundays, they only get to work on my car today. That's why I'm riding my bike to work today and despite the thunderstorm warning on the weather app, I had no other choice. At exactly 4:00 PM, the sky opened up and it really pours. Just my luck, I forgot to bring my raincoat today. I had it washed the last time I used it and I forgot to bring it back to work since. Needless to say, I came home freezing and soaking wet. I'll be lucky if I don't develop fever-like symptoms tomorrow.

I thought a saved a few hundred ringgits by sending my car to a new workshop but instead the repairs only got worse and I might even end up paying more than the regular workshop. Would I avoided all this mess had I stick to my regular workshop? Who knows. Hindsight is 20/20. I mean they did a pretty good job on my car before. We'll see if this Autohaus Bangi will actually fix my car for good this time around. I hate this. Wish I could just get a new car.

But you know I can't afford that. Not with my current commitments.
