Monday I had a cold, a common cold - nothing serious. That morning I went to a site office to replace my colleague whose on leave. There I had to sit right beneath the air coniditoner unit and there's now way I can control the temperature. By evening I was hot all over and my cold had turned into a full-blown fever.

So yesterday I went to a local panel clinic nearby and the doctor found my temperature was a warm 39 degrees. He gave me a jab on the butt, half a dozen of pills and a day off tomorrow. But after leaving the clinic I was 57 ringgit poorer. WTF, 57 RM? Next time I'd rather queue and suffer for 3 hours at a government clinic than waste my money there ever again!

At three-zero I am still blissfully married to my lovely wife for 6 years now, I have 2 wonderful children and another one on the way, hopefully 5 months from now. I have been at the same company for the last 4 years, have our own car and our very own little apartment. Yes there are always good and bad times but that's life. And yes I wish I had fared better or be able to give my family and myself the best of everything in life. But the important thing is, I must be very grateful for all that life has given to me and count my blessings, which are too many to count. Always remember that there's still many people out there fighting a harder battle. Alhamdulillah for everything.

This morning my colleagues sang me happy birthday during briefing. I was so embarrassed that I became absolutely speechless. I don't remember them doing anything like this for anyone else. I also got several text messages wishing happy birthday and a few dozens more on Facebook. Thank you very much guys, I really appreciate it.

For my concerned friends & colleagues who wondered why I shaved my hair again, these reasons might answer your questions. Pick any one.

a) I was abducted and subjected to inhumane experiments by aliens
b) An old man with white robe and long beard told me to do so in my dream
c) My dandruff problem is getting out of hand
d) I started to look ugly with this hair do
e) PERKASA lodged a police report against my hair (for not being Malay enough)
f) My budget for conditioner, shampoo and hot oil treatment has gone overboard
g) Paul the psychic octopus predicted that I would shave my head

9 months. That's the longest I've been without a hair cut.

1 January 2010

1st January is just another day of the year. Forgive me for my lack of enthusiasm. But if you barely scrap through day in and day out and you don't look forward to your pay day anymore cause you know very well they won't be enough, you'll understand how I feel. Life sucks. There's nothing to look forward to in the new year.

That said, my new year resolution is try to make a little more money to make ends meet. Since I can't put much hope on a pay rise at work, I've got to look for other avenues for that. Being broke all the time does sucks. I hate that feeling.

Also, my other resolution is to grow my hair long again. Last year I got till 7 months before I had to shave them after I got chicken pox. So take a long hard look at this bald head. Because they won't be like that for long.

Happy New Year!

I won't work. Jus Mate 5, Herbalife, Appeton Weight Loss, Sendayu Tinggi, you name it. If you read the fine details or actually listen to what the sales person said, every one of the diet products require you to also take a balanced diet and exercise regularly. Just buying and consuming those products per se won't make you lose wight. It's no use drinking Herbalife in the afternoon when you eat breakfast, dinner and numerous snacks in between like you just don't care. It doesn't work that way.

I think I have covered it pretty thoroughly here how I did it. How I lose 21 kilos in one whole year. Yes I did it the hard way, without spending anything more than the price of my running shoes. There's no short cut to success.

Another tip I can give you is like this. Buy one set of meal for dinner and let your ravished kids have them. Then you go home and eat instant noodles or pasta or plain old bread. It'll save you money and you'll lose weight as well at the same time.

29 years ago in a little house on top of a hill, overlooking a palm oil estate somewhere in Sepang, my Mom started to have labour pains around 1 or 2 o' clock in the morning. Since there were no highway whatsoever back then in 1980, my Mom had to go through quite a bumpy ride as my Dad drove along the trunk road from Sepang to Kuala Lumpur. A few hours later, 4.59 AM to be exact, a healthy, bouncy baby boy was born at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. The baby's name was Mohd Afif. The rest, as they say is history of course.
My wife wished me happy birthday very early in the morning today. She also bought my favourite blueberry cheese cake from Secret Recipe. Thanks darling. I got tons of wishes at Facebook but hardly anybody noticed it's my birthday today at the office. Not that it matters or is surprising to me really since I'm nobody important. Apart from that nothing else interesting happened today. November 24, 2009 is just another ordinary working day of the year.

Again, thank you everyone for the wishes and prayers. I really appreciate it.

If Adam was here, he'd probably made me a card or something. Hmm.

Last night was probably the worst suffering I experienced from my chicken pox. I left the hospital around 8.30 arrived in Pasir Mas half an hour later to spend the night there. But first I got to find a barber's shop that's open. My head is so itchy, I just can't take it anymore especially with my long hair. It took me 8 months to grow my hair this long but tonight it has got to go. Besides, I can always grow my hair back next year.

Finding a barber's shop that's open at night in a small town like Pasir Mas is no easy fit. But thankfully I found one along Jalan Hospital. It was a small but air-conditioned shop run by a one man show, probably a bachelor from the look of things. He greeted me warmly and had no qualms about giving my head a shave in spite of my illness. Yes it hurts like hell when he accidentally shaved over my wounds but I just gritted my teeth and let him finish. Half an hour and 6 ringgit later I was as bald as I was last year.

At home I took a cold and long shower (no water heater here) and my grandma helped to rub some calamine lotion all over my body. Then I quickly went to bed. That's when my suffering started.

1 o'clock I woke up because my head and my back felt so terribly itchy. I went down, took my pain killers and went to bed again. 2 o'clock I got up again and my body is burning hot. So I took my last 2 tablets of paracetamols that I had and tried to sleep again but I simply can't. The room felt so cold but my body felt like an oven. And the itchiness just add more to my sufferings. I managed to get some shut eye around 4 o'clock but woke up an hour later for the same reason as above. In the end I just sit there writhing painfully alone in my bed with no one to help. I wanted so much to scratch my skin but I know it will only make matters worse. Only after 6 o'clock I managed to get my grandma to rub some lotion all over my body again.

I tell you ar, this chicken pox disease is right up there with cancer, accident and H1N1 in the pain department. I wish I don't have to suffer like this ever again.

Adam is no better than me and today he had a really high temperature and the pox marks had spread all over his body. How I wish this illness would end soon.

And I just found out the calamine lotion won't do much help to reduce the pox marks but it will help to create a cool, soothing effect around the affected area. I guess a little soothing placebo effect is better than nothing.

These days everywhere I go, I see surprised looks on people faces seeing how much weight I lost. It was fun at first, flattering even, but after some time it turns to be exasperating indeed. Having to answer the same question to a dozen different people every other day is no fun you know. What's more even when I told them the truth - how I lost my weight, some of them simply refused to believe it which is really annoying. I must have taken some slimming pills or something they say. I don't know what else to say to these kind of people.

You know what I should do? Maybe next time people ask me these sort of questions, I should tell them I use product X, Y or Z and actually try to sell them those products and make loads of money! How's that for an idea?
